I'm super excited they have finally arrived. The game I'm most excited to try is a card game that hopefully captures a feel similar to the app Space Team. It's a co-op where players must give instructions to other players while listening and doing actions from their teammates. It will be a hectic fast paced game. It won't last long but should be fun.
Even though I just ordered some more copies of Gem Mining, I came up with a new version. Currently it is more of a non-gamer roll dice and press your luck kind of game. I think it's enjoyable for those who just want to kill time and have something to do. I've always thought it was lacking something, but I like more strategy in my games.
The newest version of Gem Mining will keep the dice rolling-press-your-luck mechanic, but I plan to add some more to make it more interesting. The first thing I think I will add is an auction mechanic. A plot of land will go up for sale and each player will have a chance to bid on the land. The card will be like the original cards where players have to make certain combinations in order to score the right points. The cards and dice will be changed so that some cards have a high risk high reward scenario and others will be low risk low reward. Players will be able to purchase better mining tools(better dice) in hopes of increasing the odds of getting what is needed. The game will still end when a player reaches a set amount of points. These changes shouldn't change the price of the game as it will use the same components just have different information on them. It will be interesting to try and I hope the game becomes more enjoyable because of it. If it doesn't work then I will just leave the game as it is. It will just be a non-gamer, push your luck, dice game.
I'm still working on my Meltdown game and so far I should be on track to having it finished. I'm not sure how the contest works, but hopefully I don't need to receive a copy before I publish it to the contest. If you know, let me know. I still plan on making it either way though.
